SPRINGFIELD, IL – Chris Welch (D-Chicago) was sworn into office on Wednesday, as state Representative of the 7th District. Welch is focused on improving education, protecting families from foreclosures and providing safer streets in our communities. Welch is a partner at Sanchez Daniels & Hoffman, LLP and has served on the Proviso Township High Schools District 209 since 2001, and has served as president since April 2003.
“It is a great honor to serve the people of the 7th District in the 98th General Assembly,” Welch said. “As I walk door-to-door constituents have expressed the need to bring more living-wage jobs to our area, provide safer streets for our families and ensuring the best education for our children. I will be a strong voice for my constituents in Springfield and I am dedicated to addressing these issues.”
Welch, a partner at Sanchez, Daniels & Hoffman, LLP, who has also served as president of Proviso Township High School District 209 since 2003, is focused on improving education, protecting families from foreclosures and providing safer streets in our communities. As school board president, Welch balanced the district’s budget and led efforts to create the first suburban-based magnet high school, the Proviso Math and Science Academy. Welch bring his experience to Springfield where he intends to fight for responsible spending while also protecting programs that that are vital to working families.
Welch has hit the ground running, planning a number of town hall meetings and community events for his district. Welch also plans to maintain an open-door policy so that his office is easily accessible to constituents. He encourages residents of the 7th District to attend his district office open on January 26 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Welch will be there to meet constituents and listen to any concerns or suggestions. Welch’s full-time constituent service office will be at 10055 Roosevelt Road, Suite E in Westchester.
“I look forward to working with my constituents and community leaders to bring real reform to Springfield,” Welch said. “In my experience as a community leader and as a father, I understand the importance of proving a quality education for our children and safe communities to raise families. It will take a collective effort to make change, and I encourage residents to share their concerns with me so that I can best advocate for them in Springfield.”
